Danube-Networkers
Build bridges, not walls
Text: Antica Popovic
Real, solid bridges connect people over the river, link an island to the land, span over a deep canyon or shorten the way you walk or drive.
There are different bridges - the solid ones, but also the symbolic ones, bridges of mind. Even if we are separated geografically, we are not divided in our minds.
Building the bridges means to give a hand to the weaker ones, the abused children, to the sick and powerless, to the people who have different opinions and attitudes.
People who live close to the Danube river, even in different countries, have something in common and this connects them both the river and all the bridges acrros the river.
In my home town Dubrovnik, which is situated at the Adriatic Sea, poeple say:" If you put a finger into a water, you are connected with all of the world".
Also, do not forget the old latin saying which says: "Navigare necesse
est, vivere non esse"
(it is necessary to navigate, not to live).
